Coming as a bit of a surprise, it appears that former Pantera drummer Vinnie Paul has passed away at the age of 54. This news came directly from the band's social media accounts earlier today. The details regarding his passing are still on the confidential side, you can read a very short post that was shared around earlier:
There truly are no words for losing such a talented musician, especially when so many are leaving us at such a rapid rate. Whether they are artists that you looked up to for years, or a random musician you may come across by scrolling through Facebook one day, it is never good to see them leave so soon. Regardless of any of that, Vinnie's legacy will live on through the music and stories his loved ones and fans have to remember him by. Today we honor the memories of a fallen metalhead and heavy metal icon. He isn't the first to leave us abruptly, and won't be the last, but it doesn't mean we shouldn't celebrate his life and accomplishments any less.
To help keep the good vibes flowing, we have a video below featuring a "drum cam" video (of sorts) to show the raw power of this behemoth in action.
