Hjarna Waves is an "Ambidjenthall" experience From Ontario, Canada. We recently met up with their guitarist Ty Snow to have a chat about the project and their upcoming release.
Ty : "Hjarna Waves was founded by me alongside a low quality 10 track instrumental demo. I started looking for members to fill out the band and shortly after Jon (Vocalist) came as a recommendation from my little brother (his best friend). I found our drummer Brodie (Drummer) on instagram and slid into his DM's. Instrumentally, the project is my brainchild, so the sound is heavily influenced by my favorite bands : Meshuggah, Vildhjarta, Benea Reach, Mnemic, Veil of Maya. I like to call it "Ambidjenthall" (corny combination of Ambient-Djent-Thall) however, what the listeners want to call it is entirely up to them!"
They are about to drop a new EP on New Years Eve through Ghostship Recordings called "The Tower" featuring 4 songs from their upcoming LP "Copied City" nearing the end of January-Early February and we are extremely looking forward to it!
Ty : "Instrumentally the album is inspired by the Nier:Automata Video game/sound track. We are still really under the radar, however, We were nominated by Anger Management Radio in Canada for Best Metal EP of 2017 alongside the likes of other Canadian acts like Spritibox and Lungless. The 3 of us have struggled to find other dedicated musicians in our area to help us bring our music to the stages so far but, we are hoping with our next release we can attract some attention and hopefully well be tearing it up on tour in 2018!
