18th November was a dark wintery night in London, the perfect scenery for Netherlands progressive rhythmic metal band Textures to play their last U.K. show.
I personally cannot believe the band are calling it a day, but its easy to see why if you look at their Facebook page, as its full of achievements any band would be over the moon to receive. The band are absolutely incredible musicians which leave you so intrigued the two hours they played seemed like 30 minutes. I didn't want it to stop.
The 2 hours they smashed through songs from all five of their albums, standing there watching their excellence had me wondering why they are still a fairly small band.
Not that what they are doing is bad at all. They have one of the best shows I have seen in my 20 years of watching bands. They control the crowd the whole time, even stopping for a keyboard solo and acoustic guitar performance.
It is such a shame they wont be around for a while, but fans can hope its a short while. Keep your eyes peeled and get involved in purchasing Polars, Drawing Circles, Silhouettes, Dualism and Phenotype, the bands five offerings. You wont be let down by the wizardry in the songwriting this band owns!
BOTTOM LINE- Textures should be massively happy with what they have done where they have been and shows they have played since 2001. They are a band for musicians as well as hardcore metal fans because of the mastery they hold and ferocity of their playing! I cant say enough about these absolute heavyweight champs, so go check em out for yourselves if you haven't already.
